For bakery chains

Maintenance software for bakery chains

Fabric keeps every oven, prover, mixer, fridge and coffee machine across your bakehouses and shops on one record, so faults reach the right engineer before the morning bake, and planned servicing and compliance never slip.

The challenge

When the oven fails at 4am, the whole day is at risk

A bakery runs on early starts and tight timings. If a deck oven, prover or mixer goes down before the morning bake, the shelves are empty when the doors open.

Across a chain, the problems multiply. A central bakehouse feeds a string of shops, and each shop has its own ovens, display fridges and coffee machine. Every piece of kit comes from a different supplier, with a different engineer and service contract. When something breaks at 5am, the person on shift needs to know who to call, and head office needs to know it happened.

Planned maintenance is just as easy to lose track of. Oven and prover servicing, refrigeration checks, coffee machine services, gas safety records and extract cleaning all fall due at different times across different sites. Paper logbooks and spreadsheets do not remind anyone, and they are hard to produce when an environmental health officer or insurer asks.

How Fabric helps

Bakery maintenance software built around early starts

Fabric was built by a team that services coffee machines and kitchen equipment for cafés and caterers, so it is designed for kit that has to work first thing.

Every site, every oven

Bakehouses and shops each have their own equipment list, with service history, warranty details and the engineer who looks after it.

Faults logged in seconds

The baker or shop manager raises a fault against the oven, mixer or fridge with a photo, so the job goes straight to the right engineer.

Early-morning clarity

Each job shows who it was sent to, the agreed response time and every update, so the next shift knows exactly where things stand.

Ready-made schedules

Start from a planned maintenance schedule for bakery and café kit, then tune intervals to your equipment and usage.

Compliance in one place

Gas safety records, extract cleaning reports, fire checks and pressure system examinations are stored against the right site and asset.

Costs by site and machine

Invoices are matched to jobs, so you can see which shops and which pieces of kit cost the most to keep running.

What to track

The equipment that keeps a bakery open

  • Ovens: deck, rack, convection and combi ovens, with servicing, seals and gas safety checks
  • Provers and retarders: temperature and humidity control, door seals and refrigeration
  • Mixers and dough equipment: spiral and planetary mixers, dividers and sheeters, including guards and safety interlocks
  • Refrigeration: walk-in cold rooms, display counters and fridges, with F-gas leak checks where the system requires them
  • Coffee: espresso machines, grinders and water filters, plus the boiler's pressure system examination
  • Building services: kitchen extract, fire alarm, emergency lighting, electrics and water hygiene

FAQs

Common questions

What equipment can Fabric track for a bakery?

Anything you maintain: deck and rack ovens, combi ovens, provers and retarders, spiral and planetary mixers, dough dividers and sheeters, fridges and cold rooms, display counters, coffee machines and grinders, dishwashers, extract and building services such as fire alarms and emergency lighting.

Can shop staff report faults on their phones?

Yes. Any member of the team can raise a fault against a piece of equipment with a photo, so the right engineer is called without hunting for phone numbers or service contracts.

Does Fabric work for a central bakehouse and its shops?

Yes. Each bakehouse and shop is a site in Fabric, with its own equipment and jobs, and head office sees the whole group in one view.

How do we set up planned maintenance?

During early access we set you up with a starter schedule for bakery and café equipment, covering servicing, gas safety, extract cleaning and fire checks. You then adjust the intervals to your equipment and your engineers' advice.

How much does Fabric cost?

Fabric starts at £39 per site per month for the core platform, with optional bolt-ons. Everything together is £79 per site per month, excluding VAT. See the pricing page for details.
